Good Deed #14 – Knit a Scarf for Romania

GOOD DEED - Knit a scarf for Romania

I recently became aware of a wonderful website called Craft Hope. The objective of this blog is to collect handmade items to donate to charitable organizations. I love this! Most people (including myself) don’t have the income to make large monetary donations to worthy causes. Craft Hope is a lovely alternative that passes along needed items that are made with love.

Craft Hope showcases different projects throughout the year. Right now, they have Rally for Roma, a partnership with Another Child Foundation. They are collecting handmade scarves, blankets and hats for orphaned and at-risk children in Romania. It gets COLD in Romania and many families don’t have warm homes to shelter them from the harsh winters.

I decided to knit a scarf with a 100% wool yarn. I’m going to try to add in a hat or two as well. But you don’t have to knit the donations. They accept crocheted and sewn items too. The deadline is May 20 so I still have some time.

I hope this inspires all of you to do your own good deed!
