A New Determination
Written by admin on Dec 31, 2012 | 2 CommentsYou may have noticed that I haven't been very active on One Part Sunshine over the past year. Between a horrible case of hyperemesis gravidarum throughout my entire pregnancy and a new baby (she is now 4 months old!), I decided to take a step back from my online obligations. This was extremely difficult for me because I put a lot of time, money and love into this website. I have dreams of it being an all-in-one resource for parents trying to create a non-toxic world for their children and a meeting place for like-minded people. I want to help parents (like me six years ago) who want to choose the safest and most natural products for their babies but don't know where to start.
So I write this as I nurse my little girl, with a newfound determination to make time for One Part Sunshine. I have learned a lot and changed a lot since I started putting together this website six years ago (mostly while breastfeeding my son). I now openly breastfeed in public without hiding behind a cover. I have accepted that being green is not an all-or-nothing decision but rather a do-what-you-can journey. I cook a lot more and garden more. And I try to DIY as much as possible for everything from cleaning products to gifts.
Most importantly, I want One Part Sunshine to grow and to become available to many more moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers. I recognize that I need help to do that so I'm actively searching for people who want to become involved in this project. I also realize that a lot of changes need to made to the site. Here are just a few of the things that I hope to accomplish this year:
- Change the focus of One Part Sunshine to the blog instead of the product guides.
- Find one or more business partners to help me with marketing and growing the site.
- Create a forum for like-minded parents to exchange ideas and advice.
- Blog every week and find guest bloggers.
- Share products, articles and tips every day on Facebook and Twitter.
- Do product giveaways on a regular basis.
- Get the e-newsletter going.
